Assam: Train services to landslide-hit Dima Hasao resume today . Train services to Assam’s Dima Hasao district, which was devastated by a landslide in May, will resume on Thursday, the North East Frontier Railway (NFR) said.
It said on Wednesday that two special trains would run daily from June 30 to July 14 to facilitate the movement of passengers.
These trains will run on Selcher-New Haflong-Silchar and Guwahati-Langting-Guwahati sections. However, the Guwahati-Langting-Guwahati train will not run on Saturday, an NFR spokesman said.
About 85 km of railway track in the Lumding Badarpur Hills of Lumding Division was badly affected by torrential rains and massive landslides in May, leaving parts of Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur and Assam in limbo. Train services were disrupted.
The Silchar New Haflong Special Train will leave Silchar at 7.20 am and reach New Haflong at 11.30 am. On return, it will leave New Haflong at 3.30pm and reach Silchar at 8.30pm.
The special train will stop at Badarpur, Sukritipur, Hilara, Bihara, Chandranathpur, Damcherra, Bandarkhal, Ditokcherra, New Harangajao and Jatinga Lumpur stations.
The Guwahati Langting Special Train will leave Guwahati at 8.15 am and reach Langting at 12.45 pm. On the return journey, it will leave Langting at 2.05 pm and reach Guwahati at 8 pm.
The train will stop at Jagiroad, Chaparmukh, Hojai, Lanka, Lumding, Manderdisa, Hatikhali and Dibolong stations.
