Assam: second version of Northeast Festival to be held in Bangkok on July 30 and 31

Guwahati: second version of Northeast Festival to be held in Bangkok on July 30 and 31. To celebrate 75 years of India’s diplomatic relations with Thailand, the second edition of the Northeast India Festival will be held on July 30 and July 31 in Bangkok.

The first edition was held in February 2019 and was very well attended.

Northeast Festival India is organized by the Socio-Cultural Trust, Trend MMS, in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Bangkok and various governments of the North-Eastern States.
The second edition of the Northeast Festival will begin on July 29 with an opening session at the Centra Grand Hotel in Bangkok, a statement said.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Konrad Sangma, Nagaland Chief Minister Nephew Reo, Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chunaman besides ministers, bureaucrats, top industrialists and influential people of Thailand will also attend the meeting.

During the inaugural session, expert sattriya dancer Mardusmita Das will perform sattriya dance.
In a major exhibition by the State Governments of the North-Eastern States, around 30 MSME entrepreneurs will exhibit products from the North-East with special focus on tea, handicrafts, agro-horticulture products, tourism etc.

Food stalls and art exhibitions are also organized.

A grand cultural exhibition on both the days presents various dance forms of North Eastern states. This time the focus is on the Tai culture of the Northeast region.
A large team from the Tai Khamti and Tai Ahom communities will present the history, heritage and culture of the Tai communities.

Some of Thailand’s most popular dance forms will also be showcased.

The two-day festival will feature a spectacular fashion show featuring top designers from Northeast India such as Anuradha Kuli, Robert Norm, Priyanka Lama.
