Assam: RPF rescues 4 minors in a week, arrests 3 smugglers.
N.F. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of N.F. Successfully rescued 4 minors during routine checking at various trains and railway stations on the railways. All were rescued from trains, railway stations and stations. The RPF also arrested three people involved in human trafficking.
On June 2, a joint team of police and RPF Guwahati personnel checked at Guwahati station and rescued a minor girl. Another minor girl was rescued on June 3 at Rangiya railway station under the supervision of RPF My Friend Team Sub-Inspector Rangia.
On June 4, a minor boy was rescued from a train (North East Express) while on duty. Later, the rescued minors were handed over to Railway Childline / Guwahati, Childline / Kamrup and Childline / Barpeta for safe custody and further action.
Most recently, on June 5, a head constable, during a routine check with a constable at the New Minagori RPF outpost, found a minor girl sitting suspiciously with three men at the New Maynaguri railway station.
Upon interrogation, the minor girl said that she ran away with the three men, all residents of Katkina Iswaripur village under Magrahat police station in South 24 Parganas (West Bengal) district. The matter was reported to the girl’s parents. Suspecting human trafficking, the three men and the minor were handed over to Maynaguri police for necessary legal action.
A new initiative under “My Friend” has been launched on N. F. Railways and is working round the clock to inform women / children passengers about safety and the use of helpline numbers. 139 in case of any emergency.
