Dimapur: Nagaland Governor La Ganesan called on the Assam Rifles to renew their commitment to the peace, stability and prosperity of Nagaland in particular and India as a whole through collective strength and unity.
Addressing the induction ceremony of Assam Rifles personnel at the Dr. Imkongliba AO Hall of the Raj Bhavan in Kohima on Saturday, Ganesan said that the Assam Rifles, as the oldest paramilitary force in the country, is the fabric of our country’s defence. is deeply molded.
A Raj Bhavan release said that his role in protecting our borders, especially in the challenging terrain of India’s North-East region, is commendable in itself.
He also said that they have also contributed to peace and prosperity in the region, working in close coordination with various other organizations and departments.
Appreciating his proactive and people-friendly approach, Ganesan added that he has consistently proved himself to be a ‘friend of the hill people’ over the years.
The Governor awarded gold and silver medals to meritorious personnel of the Assam Rifles and certificates of appreciation to their units for their distinguished service and devotion to duty.
He said that this ceremony enhances the spirit of service, valor and commitment that our country’s armed forces represent.
He presented 30 individual awards and four unit appreciation certificates.
He said that the extraordinary service and bravery of the gallantry medal awardees not only make them recipients of these prestigious awards but also highlight their undeniable commitment to our great nation.
He further said that his bravery is a beacon for all.
“These awards are truly a recognition of your continued hard work, perseverance and always putting service before yourself,” he added.
Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North) Major General Vikas Lakera assured that Assam Rifles will continue to perform its duty for the people of Nagaland and the cause of the entire nation.
