Assam Rifles Mahila recruits parade reviewed by Arunachal Guv

Itanagar: A total of 382 newly trained Mahila recruits took part in a confirmation parade held at the Assam Rifles Training Center and School in Shokhuvi, Nagaland on Wednesday.
The parade marked the culmination of 44 weeks of rigorous training in various aspects of military service, including skills in combat craft, weapons handling, jungle lane shooting, and counter-insurgency operations.
A notable feature of the parade was the special participation of female recruits, with Major Swati Basedia, a woman officer posted in the ARTC&S, leading the parade.
Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lt. Gen. Kaiwalya Trivikram Pranaik, Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Yudh Seva Medal (Retd) reviewed the confirmation parade.
Also present were Lieutenant General Pradeep Chandran Nair, Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Yudh Seva Medal, Ph.D., Director General of Assam Rifles and several other senior officers of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles.
During his address to the recruits, the reviewing officer highlighted the Assam Rifles’ rich history as the oldest paramilitary force in the country and its multifaceted role.
He said that since 2015, Assam Rifles has inducted women riflemen in all frontline duties, and they have proved their mettle in diverse regions including North East, Jammu and Kashmir and UN missions. The presence of women troops of Assam Rifles in Republic Day parades in 2019 and 2023 has been particularly commendable.
The officer said that their role not only creates a sense of security among local women and children but also enhances the image of India as a progressive and women-empowered country.
The Assessing Officer heartily congratulated the recruits and their parents on the successful completion of their training and wished them success and happiness in all their future endeavours.
The Governor also paid homage to late Captain Kenguruse, Mahavir Chakra on this important occasion. He urged the newly confirmed recruits to serve the nation with unwavering sincerity and stressed the importance of keeping up with technological advancement.
He acknowledged that the responsibilities of female soldiers are particularly challenging, as they not only play important roles but also have family responsibilities.
These newly confirmed Riflewomen (Female Soldiers) will be involved in various frontline duties in their respective units.
After the passing-out parade, the Governor personally met the outstanding recruits, including Recruit Riflewoman Nonie Chizo who was recognized as the Best Recruit Overall, Recruit Riflewoman Veplilu Hoshi, named the Best Recruit in Physical Fitness.
