Moreh: Tensions are high along the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district following an exchange of fire between the Assam Rifles and the outlawed People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
According to sources, a gunfight broke out between 20 Assam Rifles and the outlawed PLA yesterday evening in Saibon village of Manipur’s Tengnoupal district, which shares the border with Myanmar.
It is reported that a cadre of the banned PLA was injured in a bomb blast fired by the Assam Rifles personnel.
As a result of heavy gunfight two Assam Rifles soldiers killed and some others injured sources said.
Sources added that when additional troops of Assam Rifles arrived in the disputed area, the PLA operatives managed to escape to Myanmar territory.
Meanwhile, several women representing the Kuki Women Union and Human Rights Moreh demanding the removal of state police commandos from the border town’s.
