Assam police nab 2 ULFA (I) cadres in Arunachal’s Nampong, hunt on for others
Tinsukia: In a shock to ULFA (I), two cadres of the banned outfit surrendered in front of a joint team of Assam Police and Assam Rifles led by Deputy Inspector General (North East Range) Jitmal Doley at Nampong in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh. In a major operation launched.
According to sources, based on a specific input on the movement of a joint group of ULFA (I) and NSCN (K-YA) cadres, security forces launched an operation in the dense jungles of Nampong.
The surrendering cadres have been identified as Jagaran Axomand Dhoni Axom.
A source said that feeling the heat, the two cadres surrendered to the security forces, while the other members left the ground and went deep into the forest.
The group was led by so-called Captain Mariganko Axom.
“The surrendering cadres recovered two MQ 81 assault rifles, a few magazines, several rounds of live ammunition, bulletproof vests and some personal belongings,” the source said.
