
Assam police held two with over 1,300 kg Ganja at Tripura border
Guwahati: A police team in Karimganj, Assam seized a significant amount of ganja and apprehended two individuals near the state’s border with Tripura.
Acting on a tip-off, the police police intercepted a truck near the Churaibari police watch post on Tuesday.
Upon inspection, a hidden compartment within the vehicle revealed 439 packets containing 1,317 kilograms of suspected ganja.
The authorities confirmed that the truck originated from Tripura and identified the arrested individuals as Balbir Singh and Vijay Kumar Singh.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma commended the operation on platform “X,” stating: “Based on reliable information, a vehicle was intercepted at Churaibari checkpoint by @karimganjpolice and 439 packets containing 1,317 kg Ganja was recovered. Two people have been apprehended in this connection and further investigation is underway. Well done @assampolice!”
An investigation has been initiated to identify the source and destination of the suspected drugs.
