Assam: Police fired at a car in Tinsukia.. Police in Tinsukia on Sunday had to open fire on a car suspected of being militants.
According to reports, there are check posts across the state to keep the state safe from anti-social elements and in one such incident, a car was flagged off by the police.
However, the vehicle did not stop and fled in violation of the police order.
Suspecting an illegal or militant inside the car, the police tried to stop it, but it kept going.
The Police fired on the car but she managed to escape.
It should be noted that ULFA-I has called for a boycott of the Independence Day celebrations.
It is suspected that members of banned militant organizations may be inside the car and an investigation has been launched.
