Assam police constable shot dead by accomplice in Charaideo.

Guwahati: An Assam police constable was shot dead by his colleague following an altercation at Sonari police station in Charaideo district.

Charaideo SP Yuvraj said police constable Gakul Basumatary was shot dead by Deepak Kakati with his service gun.
“Police constable Deepak Kakati shot dead his colleague Gokul Basumatary on Tuesday using his service rifle,” Yuvraj said.

“Other police personnel from the police station immediately rushed Basumatary to the hospital but he succumbed to his injuries,” he added.After the incident, a case was registered against the accused and the body of the victim was sent to the district hospital for post-mortem.

The police have arrested the accused constable Deepak Kakati and seized the gun. SP said that the reason behind the firing is yet to be ascertained.
The accused has been arrested and weapons have also been recovered from his possession. We are looking into the matter,” said another police official.
