Guwahati: The newly constructed All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Assam – Guwahati will be inaugurated on April 14.
AIIMS-Guwahati in Assam will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This was stated by the Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the AIIMS-Guwahati site on Thursday (March 23).
During his visit to AIIMS-Guwahati, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma reviewed the preparations for the inauguration of the institute.
The Chief Minister was at AIIMS-Guwahati along with senior officers of the state government.
Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta also visited the AIIMS-Guwahati site along with CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.
“Inspected various infrastructure facilities of it (AIIMS-Guwahati) including OPD, auditorium, waste disposal and link roads,” CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma added that AIIMS-Guwahati would “give a huge boost to healthcare in the Northeast”.
He added that the construction of the hospital is in full swing and 18 departments including OPD are almost functional.
The Chief Minister said that 90 percent of the work on the site has been completed at present.
