Assam | Oil India Limited cyberattack case: Hackers demanded 75 lakh US dollars before hacking company’s Duliajan server
A group of international hackers is believed to have been behind a cyber attack on the server of Oil India Limited’s Duliajan office in Assam.
The hackers demanded a ransom of US 75 7.5 million before hacking the server of Oil India Limited’s office in Duliajan, Assam.
Before the hackers hacked its servers, they were able to send a ransom demand to one of the computers of Oil India Limited’s office in Duliajan, Assam.
The FIR states that Oil India Limited has registered a case in this regard at Duliajan police station in Dibrugarh district of Assam.
“… We received an email … Ransomware cyber attack on a workstation of OIL’s G&R department,” read Oil India Limited’s FIR.
Oil India Limited’s FIR further stated: “Furthermore, their notice also stated that the cyber attacker had demanded 750,000 USD as ransom from the affected PC through a note.”
The FIR, filed by Sachin Kumar of Oil India Limited, Manager-Security, said, “Due to this cyber attack ransomware, OIL and Govt. Has happened “.
Meanwhile, according to the latest reports, Assam Police has sought the help of its Crime Branch Section to track down the cyber attacker who had downed the servers of Oil India Limited.
Oil India Limited’s Duliajan -based office in Assam’s Dibrugarh district is facing the biggest IT crisis.
Due to the cyber attack, all the computers and IT systems in the office of Oil India Limited located in Duliajan have been shut down.
