Guwahati: Assam government’s principal secretary Anurag Goel has been appointed as the state’s new chief electoral officer (CEO), an official order said on Wednesday.
The Election Commission of India, in consultation with the Assam government, has nominated Goel as the next CEO to replace the incumbent Nitin Kumar Shivdas Khade, the notification said.
It added that “Anurag Goel shall immediately cease to hold the charge of all or any of the functions of the Government of Assam, which he may have been holding before assuming such charge.”
The notification also said that he should be nominated Principal Secretary to the Government and in-charge of the Election Department in the State Secretariat.
Earlier, Goel was working as Principal Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare.
