Assam (Silchar): Four arrested for killing 38-year-old man Four people were arrested on Friday for allegedly beating a 38-year-old man in Kokalpur in Assam’s Kechhar district after he allegedly went to his house to meet his premier. ۔
The late Rajen Rabidas belonged to Kokilpur of Masimpur Grant.
According to sources, Rajan, who is married, went to his house on Friday to meet the girl with whom he had an illicit affair. Sources said that the girl’s family found her compromising in the backyard of the house, after which Rajan was brutally beaten, sources said.
A police team led by Manmohan Rawat, in-charge of Borkhola police station, reached the spot and sent the body to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
The four persons, identified as Lakshman Ray (26), Kartik Ray (22), Sadhan Ree (38) and Deepak Ray (35), have been arrested in connection with the brutal murder.
A case has been registered under sections 302 (murder) and 34 (acts committed by several persons in pursuit of common good) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Sources said that he was produced in the court on Saturday and was remanded in judicial custody.
Another source said that Rajen had managed to escape after beating the girl’s family but the accused grabbed her and strangled her to death.
