Assam: Five members of Hojai family were killed when their SUV collided with a railing on NH 27.

Guwahati: Five members of the same family, including a man returning home from Kuwait, were killed and five others were seriously injured when they were traveling when an SUV skidded off the railing on National Highway 27 in Assam’s Hojai district on Wednesday. Collided

An official said the accident took place in Bheloguri area of Doboka police station when the driver of an SUV coming from Guwahati airport lost control of the vehicle and collided with a railing on a four-lane highway.

Four passengers died on the spot, and one later succumbed to his injuries while being taken to hospital.

He said five other critically injured were admitted to a local hospital and later shifted to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.

The deceased have been identified as driver Helal Uddin, Afrid Alam, Minhaz Uddin, Nazim Uddin returning from Kuwait and a child Nifa Zinnat.

The family, from Kapahbari village in Hojai district, was returning home after receiving Nazim Uddin at Guwahati airport.
