Assam: FIR registered against insult to Assamese language


Tinsukia: An FIR has been lodged against a teenager for allegedly making “objectionable” remarks about Assamese language during a telephone conversation with a delivery boy in Tinsukia, causing outrage among local organizations. And anger is born.

Earlier, in a viral audio clip, a teenager, who identifies with a specific community, was heard intercepting a person on the other end of the phone from speaking Assamese.

The accused, identified as Arvind Singh, not only insults the local language, but also threatens that in the coming days, members of his community, from the ward commissioner to the Member of Parliament, will be in a political position. Meanwhile, several organizations have condemned the “insulting remarks” against the Assamese language and called for the arrest of the culprit.
