Assam: DSP injured in firing with drug dealers
Goalpara: A police officer was injured in a shootout with alleged drug dealers in Assam’s Goalpara district on Friday evening, police said.
A drug dealer was arrested in the morning, he said.
He said that based on the information provided by him, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Anurag Sharma led an operation to nab two more smugglers in Makori area.
Both men on motorcycles refused to stop when stopped by police.
An exchange of fire ensued in which the DSP was shot in the left leg.
He said one of the alleged drug dealers was caught but the other managed to escape.
Reddy said Sharma is currently undergoing treatment at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.
