Assam: Dibrugarh OC exchange over suicide of a person. A case has been registered against convicted police officers following the alleged death of Vineet Bagaria, a businessman and animal lover in Dibrugarh.
A police officer has been transferred for negligence in duty.
The development came after Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met the affected family in Dibrugarh, who apologized to the bereaved family and acknowledged the district administration’s failure to take the matter seriously.
According to sources, Raju Chhetri, officer-in-charge of Jorhat police station, has been posted as OC of Dibrugarh police station with immediate effect.
“Police have arrested Samsullah Khan, while the fourth accused and mastermind Sanjay Sharma is still at large,”
Vineet Bagria, 32, allegedly committed suicide at his Shani Mandir Road residence after making a video in which his last words were: “Ma, forgive me, I can’t stand it anymore (Mom, forgive me , I can’t stand it anymore. ”
On Saturday,Dibrugarh OC exchange over suicide , an opposition leader in the state legislature and a Congress MLA, wrote a letter to Assam Governor Jagdish Makhi asking him to inform the state government about the CID’s “negligence action” by the Dibrugarh police. Meanwhile, in this upper town of Assam, the demand for action against the wrong police officers for failing to register a police complaint is gaining momentum. ”
Sources further said that after the father of the deceased Kailash Bagria openly questioned the role of the police, people from all walks of life are demanding stern action against the police authorities.
Earlier, CM Sarma said that Dibrugarh police had not received his message of “standing with innocent people” and “not compromising with criminals”.۔
