Assam CM says I will retire from politics if my wife taken any money

Guwahati:  Amid the political controversy over Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife Riniki Bhuyan allegedly receiving Rs 10 crore as part of credit-linked subsidy from the central government, the chief minister reiterated that No money has been received from Government of India to his wife’s company Government of India.
Sharing a tweet by Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on Platform X (earlier known as Twitter), CM Sarma wrote, “The reply itself highlights the fact that the Government of India has given the said company no Fund has not been released.
I would like to emphasize once again that neither my wife nor the company she is associated with has received or claimed any money from the Government of India. If someone can provide evidence to the contrary, I am willing to accept any punishment, including retirement from public life.
In his next tweet, CM Sarma said that all family members of BJP politicians have the right to run their own companies and get government subsidies if they are entitled to them. “Please don’t change the goalposts now.
Yes, all family members of BJP politicians have the right to run their own companies and receive government subsidies if they deserve them. This is true for everyone. However, I would like to clarify that in this particular case, my wife has not even claimed subsidy.”
The opposition slammed the Assam chief minister and his wife for receiving a subsidy of Rs 10 crore from the Ministry of Food Processing Industries as part of the Kisan Sampada scheme.
Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on September 13 criticized the Assam Chief Minister for sharing ‘proof’ of money allegedly received by the Assam Chief Minister’s wife on micro-blogging site X.
On his X handle (Twitter), Gogoi wrote, “For the convenience of Hon’ble Chief Minister I am attaching the link of Ministry of Food Processing website.
It shows the list of companies and promoters who have received government subsidy of Rs 10 crore. Please see Serial 10. https://t.co/rR2m9PH8DX.”
The Congress MP also tweeted, “Ministry of Food Processing website clearly shows the name of the person and the company he is associated with. A government grant of Rs 10 crore has also been sanctioned. Please Union Minister Report if their website has been hacked.”
This comes after Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma quickly brushed off the allegations, denying any claims of receiving subsidies from the central government.
