Assam CM said to uplift Bodo's Bodoland territorial limits extended

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that the decision to extend the territorial limits of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) is a historic step which will further develop the Bodo population and fulfill their hopes and aspirations.
During his Republic Day address last month, the Chief Minister had announced the state government’s decision to include more than 80 per cent Bodo population villages with the BTR and that the merger would be in line with the Bodo Peace Accord signed in 2020.
Attending the 62nd annual conference of Bodo Sahitya Sabha at Patgaon in Kokrajhar district on Sunday, Sarma praised the role of Bodo Sahitya Sabha in enriching Bodo language and literature.

“Assamese culture has greatly benefited from the richness of Bodo art and literary tradition,” he said, adding that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure that Bodo language is given its due status in the education sector. .
Sarma added that Bodo language will be introduced in educational institutions up to class 12 and 10 colleges within BTR will be provincialized in the coming days, the cost of which will be borne by the government.
The Chief Minister also spoke about the contribution of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma for the overall development of the Bodo population.

Emphasizing the role of knowledge and wisdom in enlightening the society, Sarma urged the Bodo Sahitya Sabha, All Bodo Students Union and the BTR administration to do everything in their power to bring about an educational revolution in the region.
He urged the Bodo Sahitya Sabha to prepare a comprehensive dictionary in the Bodo language, while assuring necessary cooperation from the government.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister also attended the open session of the 36th Annual Conference and Golden Jubilee celebrations of All Rabha Sahitya Sabha at Loharghat in Kamrup district.

Addressing the function of the All Rabha Sahitya Sabha, Sarma appealed to the members of the Rabha community to stay connected with their identity, heritage and culture, while adding that no community can progress by severing its ties with its roots. could do
The Chief Minister also emphasized the need for an educational revolution among members of the Rabha community so that they can walk hand in hand with their counterparts from other communities.
He further said that an amount of Rs 2 crore will be given by the government for the construction of the permanent office of All Rabha Sahitya Sabha.

Sarma also announced a donation of Rs 50 lakh to the All Rabha Sahitya Sabha to meet the cost of 119 books published in connection with the annual conference.
MLAs Hemanga Thakuria and Prithviraj Rabha; Rabha Autonomous Council Chief Executive Tankeswar Rabha along with other dignitaries and guests were also present on the occasion.
