Guwahati: On the eve of election results in Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura, Assam Chief Minister – Hammata Biswa Sarma has predicted a victory for the BJP-led NDA in the three northeastern states.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also the convener of NEDA, predicted that the NDA would retain power in the three northeastern states of Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya.
The statement by the Assam chief minister has fueled speculation of a renewed alliance between the NPP and the BJP in Meghalaya after the polls.
“We (NDA) will retain power in all three states. There is nothing to worry about,” Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
According to exit polls by various organizations, the NDPP-BJP alliance will win a comfortable majority in Nagaland by winning 35-40 seats.
While voters in Tripura are offering either a clean sweep for the BJP or a hung assembly.
Meanwhile, in Meghalaya, exit polls predict the NPP to emerge as the single largest party in the state, but fall short of the magic numbers.
