Assam civil servant alleges cop slapped him, Guwahati CP orders probe

Guwahati Police Commissioner Harmeet Singh has ordered an inquiry into the alleged abuse of a police officer by a government employee here.

In his complaint, South Salmara District Electoral Officer and Executive Magistrate Bibhas Medhi said that Satgaon police station officer-in-charge Pranjit Lahkar had slapped him on Monday evening when he had filed a case against some brokers for some land. Had tried Controversy.

Citing a complaint filed by Medhi, a police officer said that instead of filing a case, Lehkar argued with a magistrate and later attacked him.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Nilotpal Deka will investigate the incident with a senior civil service officer.

The officer added that the commissioner would have to submit a report within three days for further action.
