Assam boy sentenced to 10 years in prison for sexually assaulting a boy

Hailakandi (Assam): A man has been sentenced by a Hailakandi district court in Assam to 10 years in prison for raping an 11-year-old boy four years ago.

The court of Hailakandi District and Sessions Judge (Special Judge) Sanjay Hazarika also imposed a fine of Rs. 20,000.
Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional six months’ imprisonment.

According to a complaint lodged at Lala Police Station on June 5, 2018, the offender, who was 21 years old at the time, forcibly took the child to a toilet on the premises of Lala Rural College, where he was playing with two other children.

The child was sent for medical examination and the culprit was arrested and sent to judicial custody. Police filed a charges sheet last year and the sentence was handed down last week.
