Assam: At least seven people were killed when a speeding truck crushed seven people in Assam.

Guwahati: Five people were killed and two others were seriously injured when a speeding truck overtook them in Sepajhar in Assam’s Darang district on Tuesday.

The incident took place near Sipajhar police station on NH 15 while they were out for a morning walk.

Three died on the spot, while two others died on the way to a hospital in Guwahati.
The two injured were rushed to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in critical condition.

Three of the victims have been identified as Jintumani Ahmed, Indadul Haque and 75-year-old Jaymati Barwa.

The truck driver and handman (No. AS-11-BC-1555) fled the scene after the accident.
Police have registered a case and launched raids to nab the fugitive driver.
