Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border talks: The first round of talks will be held in Guwahati tomorrow.
The first round of talks between the state governments of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh to resolve inter-state border disputes will be held in Guwahati on Wednesday.
According to reports, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pima Khandu has already arrived in Guwahati for a crucial round of border talks with her Assam counterpart, Hamanta Biswa Sarma.
However, the location of the first round of Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border talks in Guwahati is not yet known.
The Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border talks come as a border agreement was recently signed between the Assam and Meghalaya governments to resolve disputes in six of the 12 disputed areas.
“The Assam-Meghalaya issue has progressed well. Now, we are trying to resolve the border dispute with Arunachal Pradesh,” Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said recently.
Notably, there is an 804 km long inter-state border between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
Over the years, there have been several incidents of violence between locals over land disputes in the inter-state border areas of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
