Assam: APCC chief Bhupin Bora called on the family of Paresh Baruah.
DIBRUGARH: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Bhupen Bora on Thursday visited the residence of ULFA-I Commander-in-Chief Paresh Baruah’s at Jerigaon in Dibrugarh, Upper Assam.
Bora talked to Paresh Barua’s family members and talked for hours with his elder brother Buckle Baru.
After the meeting, Bhupen Bora told the media, “For the last several years, our Congress party has wanted peace between ULFA-I and the government. Congress initiated the peace process between ULFA-I and the government when our government was in power at both the center and the state. We want a complete solution. ”
He further said, “I have heard statements from both Paresh Baruah and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. I think instead of taking all the credit, the Chief Minister should take the matter seriously and work productively to end the decades-old insurgency in Assam.
“If the government wants anything from us, we are ready to help end the insurgency,” the APCC chief told reporters.
