Dibrugarh: ANLA cadre surrenders Adivasi National Liberation Army (ANLA) on Wednesday surrendered to the Superintendent of Police Office, Dibrugarh, through the Army’s 18 Garhwal Regiment and CRPF’s 171 Battalion.
The ANLA cadre, identified as David Brajnayak (31), surrendered before SP Shwetank Mishra of Dibrugarh along with a 0.32mm pistol, a magazine and three rounds of bullets. The surrendered ultra is a resident of Nabul village in Golaghat district.
Earlier on May 23, two AANLA cadres from Golaghat district surrendered before the Superintendent of Police in Dibrugarh along with arms and ammunition. Earlier on May 14, two ANLA workers had surrendered before the police in Dibrugarh.
The ANLA cadre surrenders , It formed in 2006, consists of around 100 members of the Tea Tribe community of Assam. The number of armed workers of the organization is said to be around 20.
The organization claims to be fighting for the protection of tribal culture and the rights of plantation workers whose ancestors were brought from the rest of India by the British colonialists.
His major demands include the granting of Schedule Tribe (ST) status to the state’s Adivasi community and the resettlement of displaced persons from his community. The organization mainly targets large tea estates in the Upper Assam belt for extortion purposes.
