Guwahati: Anger after Ober driver’s attack on a Muslim passenger with a stick In a shocking incident, an Uber driver hit a Muslim passenger with a stick and called him Bangladeshi for refusing to pay for a ride in cash.
Mohd Abuzar Chaudhry booked an Uber for the Kamakhya Temple and opted for online payment for the ride. However, the taxi driver insisted that he would not accept any online payment and would have to pay in cash.
When Chaudhry refused to pay the cash, the cab driver became aggressive and attacked him with a stick. He also called the passengers Bangladeshis.
The passengers warned the taxi driver that they were going to lodge a complaint about his misbehavior, on which he got into the car and tried to hit the passengers.
Twitter user Nikita Jain, a freelance journalist who was traveling with Chaudhry, tagged the state police machinery which was moving fast. A police complaint was lodged at a nearby police station and the cab driver was arrested.
