Guwahati: A-Linkman Arrested from Bangalore. A suspected linkman of the United Liberation Front of Assam-Independent (ULFA-I) has been arrested by a team of Assam Police from Bangalore, Karnataka.
According to sources and reports, the arrested man is claimed to be a close associate of the ULFA-I cadre who was recently killed in an encounter in Kakopathar, Tinsukia last Friday.
The arrested person has been identified as Ranjit Gogoi. According to police sources, the man is a resident of Sadiya town in Assam.
He was arrested from Bangalore, Karnataka on the basis of specific information available with the police.
He was allegedly involved in a suspicious and illegal cash transaction with another ULFA-I-linked cadre, Gyan Asom, who was killed last Friday.
The other person arrested in the case has been identified as Arun Gohin. It is also claimed to be the link man of ULFA-I.
Gogoi is accused of transferring / depositing Rs 30,000 in Arun’s account, which was later withdrawn and handed over to Gyan Asom.
Police are now investigating the whole matter to find out what and how the two are involved with the banned militant organization.
