Assam: A couple was arrested for torturing a domestic worker in Golaghat.

Guwahati: A couple was arrested on Friday for torturing a minor girl working as a domestic worker from Golaghat district of Upper Assam.

The couple, identified as Nirupam Das and Panki Saikia, were arrested from Moran in Dibrugarh district, police said.

He was arrested on Thursday based on a complaint filed by the family of the minor girl at the Morenhat police station.
The victim’s father lodged a complaint that his daughter was tortured by her employers Nirupam and Pinky.

She had been working as a housekeeper in the couple’s home for the past one year.

Nirupam Das works as a tea board official at Sonari and Pinky Saikia is an employee of the sericulture department at Demo.
