GUWAHATI: Three persons, including the president and general secretary of the Assam Mia Parishad, have been detained for alleged links to terror outfits, police said on Wednesday.
The development comes after the controversial ‘Mia Museum’ housed in a house allotted under PMAY in Assam’s Goalpara district was sealed on Tuesday.
Mia Parishad president M Mehr Ali was picked up from a museum at Dapakbhita in Goalpara district while he was sitting on a dharna, while its general secretary Abdul Batin Shaikh was picked up from his residence at Alamganj in Dhubri district on Tuesday night.
Tanu Dhadumiya, who inaugurated the museum on Sunday, was detained from his residence in Kawamari village of Dibrugarh, he said.
The three have been booked under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in connection with a case registered at the Ghograpar police station for their alleged association with Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS). Affiliation can be investigated and questioned. and Ansar-ul-Bangla Team (ABT), a senior police officer said.
