
As Violence grips State NFR cancels all Manipur-Bound Trains
In view of the violence in some parts of Manipur, the North East Frontier Railway (NFR) has canceled all Manipur bound trains in view of the law and order situation in the state.
Sabyasachi De, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of North East Frontier Railway (NFR) told the media, “Until the situation improves, no train is entering Manipur. This decision was taken by the Manipur government. The train movement has been advised to stop.”
On the other hand, Indian Railways has also canceled the operation of four trains for May 5 and May 6 following violent clashes in the state.
Railways said, “Manipur state authorities have advised to stop train operations due to the prevailing law and order situation in Manipur. 4 trains have been cancelled. This decision is initially only for May 5 and 6.” was taken for,” Railways said.
As for the latest update from the state, the Indian Army has said that the situation in Moreh and Kangpokpi areas is under control and stable. The army further said that all efforts are underway to bring the situation back to normal in Imphal and Churachandpur areas.

It may be noted that the army and paramilitary forces were deployed in Manipur and the situation after the violence during a rally called by the All Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSUM) on 3 May to demand inclusion. A flag march was being carried out to control the of Meitei in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.
Meanwhile, the army has also asked people to be cautious about fake videos circulating even as internet was suspended in the state in view of the violence.
“Fake videos on security situation in Manipur including attack on Assam Rifles post are being circulated by hostile elements for their vested interests. #IndianArmy requests all to use only official and verified sources. Trust,” said the Spear Corps, Indian Army in a tweet.
To deal with the worsening law and order situation after tribal groups took out rallies in several districts of Manipur, the state government suspended mobile internet for five days across the state. Along with the ban on large gatherings, night curfew was also imposed in many districts of the state.
