Arunachalee woman, victim of violence, rescued from Uttarakhand
Itanagar: Arunachalee woman, a victim of violence, rescued from Uttarakhand. Thanks to the joint efforts of Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW), its Uttarakhand counterpart, and One-Stop based on Naharlagan, a 27-year-old Arunachali woman, an alleged victim of domestic violence, was recently rescued from Uttarakhand.
According to the Zero FIR lodged by a member of the woman’s family at Lakabli police station in Lower Siang district, the victim was married in 2020 to Narendra Singh, a resident of Dhamakot village in Puri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand.
The complainant in the FIR said that the victim initially complained of mental abuse by her in-laws after which she even tried to cut her wrist once.
However, the situation worsened on May 29 when her husband started “physically abusing her for no reason”.
According to the FIR, the victim was brutally beaten by her husband using a belt on May 29, leaving scars all over her body, while Singh also tried to strangle her using the same.
Her photos went viral on social media recently.
Taking note of the matter, APSCW, led by its chairperson Kenjam Pakam, contacted his counterpart Kasim Kandwal who later managed to rescue the woman and send her back to Arunachal with the help of local police.
