Itanagar: Two children of a family were killed while a woman was seriously injured after being hit by a pick-up truck in Mob-II area here on Friday morning.

According to the police, the incident took place around 6.30 am.
One of the deceased was 9 years old and studied in class 3 while the other was only one year old.

A three-year-old child died on the spot while the other succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The injured woman is undergoing treatment at the KR Mission Hospital here.

Capital Superintendent of Police Jimmy Chiram said the driver of the pick-up truck has been arrested and a case under Section 279/304(A)/338 of the IPC has been registered at the police station here.

The driver has been identified as Bipul Biswas (42) and hails from Harmoti in Assam.

The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families after post-mortem for last rites. The investigation is on and the police are trying to complete the case on an urgent basis,” the SP said.
