Itanagar: Two APPSC officers resign, members of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), Major General (retd) Ganesh Singh Bisht and Major General (retd) Jarkin Gamelin, submitted their resignations to Governor BD Mishra on Thursday.
Both met the Governor at the Raj Bhavan here and tendered their resignations as members of the APPSC.
He was accompanied by another member of the commission, Mapping Tadar Baig.
APPSC has a total of four members with Baig and another member Tserang Naksang still holding their respective posts.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu had earlier in the day handed over the recommendations of the state cabinet to the governor to invoke the provisions of Section 317 of the APPSC to remove the members of the commission over the exam paper leak issue.
The paper leak incident came to light when Gyamar Padung, an APPSC exam candidate himself, filed a police complaint at the Itanagar police station on August 29, claiming that he suspected that the AE (Civil) The exam paper has been leaked.
Accordingly, a case was registered in the Itanagar Police Station and 10 persons including Deputy Secretary of APPSC and Deputy Controller of Examination Takt Gerang have been arrested in this case so far.
Apart from recommending a CBI probe into the matter, the state government had recently suspended APPSC secretary Jayantha Kumar Ray and joint secretary Suraj Gurung while the commission’s chairman Nippu Nabam has been accused of raising several constituencies. He resigned from his post on October 14 amid pressure.
