Arunachal Pradesh to host maiden Tribal Film Festival
Arunachal Pradesh is all set to host its first International Tribal Film Festival (ITFF), which will feature films by tribal and non-tribal filmmakers in different languages.
The two-day festival will feature films and documentaries on tribal art and culture, produced by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh and in collaboration with the Directorate of Film Festivals, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
The festival will open on Saturday in Dering, Arunachal Pradesh. The films will be screened at Picture Time MDMT (Mobile Digital Movie Theater).
The festival will also feature panel discussions on the importance of tribal films and the pros and cons of shooting in Northeast India. In addition to an interactive session with the region’s National Award winning sound designer Debajit Gyan, a film gala will also be held.
Assamese film “Semkhor” (in Dimasa language), “Crossing Bridges”, which won the National Film Award for Best Film in Shertukpen Language in 2013, “A Dog and Man”, National Award winning feature film “Onataah” were appreciated. ۔ The 2021 bilingual mini-films “Nine Hills One Valley”, and “Ma.Ama”, the first National Award winning film, are among the films to be screened at the festival.
According to the organizers, Arunachal Pradesh Minister for Home and Inter-State Border Affairs Baming Felix, Arunachal Pradesh Minister for IPR and Printing will inaugurate the festival. The MLAs of Dering, Phurpa Tsering and MDMT of Picture Time will be declared open.
