ITANAGAR: The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is planning to set up new posts along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) to thwart future incursions by the Chinese PLA into Indian territory.
The Yangtze Plateau areas in Arunachal Pradesh, where the latest clash between the Indian Army and the PLA took place on December 9, are among the places where these new ITBP command posts are to be built.
“Tawang is one of the most sensitive areas on the Line of Actual Control. During a meeting last week, the ITBP brass discussed various measures including additional posts,” the Telegraph quoted an ITBP official as saying.
“Even in extremely cold conditions, which make movement in hostile areas very difficult, our men remain on high alert and keep a close watch on the borders round the clock,” said an ITBP commandant.
“During the latest (Dec 9) encounter, our troops fought hard and thwarted an attempt by the Chinese to encroach,” he added.
Of the 3488 km LAC dividing India and China, 1346 km is in the eastern sector.
