There were no confirmed casualties in the militant attack, but some reports claimed that an Assam Rifles jawan was killed in the attack.

Sources said that a joint team of NSCN (K) and ULFA (I) with heavy weapons attacked the newly established camp of Assam Rifles at Pangsu Pass around 4 am on Tuesday.
In retaliation, the Assam Rifles opened fire on them and there was an exchange of fire but no casualties were reported, a source said.

Confirming the incident, Changlang Superintendent of Police (SP) Mihin Gambo said that there was a report of firing from Pangsu Pass area this morning.

“It was not immediately known which insurgent groups were involved in the attack,” SP Gambo said.
Meanwhile, security forces have launched a large-scale operation along the Indo-Myanmar border in Changlong district.

Recently, the Assam Rifles has carried out large-scale operations against insurgent groups in Tarap, Lungding and Changlong areas of Arunachal Pradesh and have managed to capture several NSCN cadres.

The Pangsu Pass region is one of the remotest regions of Arunachal Pradesh and shares its borders with Myanmar.
