Arunachal governor suggests for ‘civil military blend ’

New Delhi: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brigadier (Retd) B D MIshra on Wednesday said that it is time for India to upgrade and graduate civil-military relations to civil military blend.
Delivering a lecture on ‘Civil-Military Relations’ at the National Defense College here, the Governor said that in today’s history, civil-military relations are evolving into civil-military coordination in all configurations – land, air, sea. And in space.
Mishra said civil-military relations include all civil-military interfaces, consultations, joint decisions, war games, civil operations and civil power assistance.
Recounting the history of the relationship, he highlighted the importance of good civil-military relations at the national, strategic and tactical levels.
The governor stressed that improving civil-military relations should be an integral part of the national defense policy.
At the national level, Mishra said it should include all the ingredients that go into making the armed forces ‘Atma NIrbhar’ and making our country ‘Shershtha Bharat’.
Talking about the ‘way forward’, the Governor said that India is a democratic country, where civil power is supreme.
He said that the army cannot legislate for the civil authorities but what the military leadership can certainly do is to show its competence, integrity and unwavering nationalism which makes the military man responsible for all military matters. I will make an indispensable advisor to the government.
Mishra added, “This is one of the best ways to achieve good civil-military relations.
