Arunachal entered into an agreement with the WWF to develop a biodiversity strategy.
Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh on Friday signed an agreement with WWF India to develop a State Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (SBSAP).
SBSAP will be in line with the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework and the Pakke Declaration.
An agreement between the Arunachal Pradesh State Biodiversity Board (APSBB) and the WWF India was signed during a meeting in New Delhi chaired by the state’s Minister for Environment and Forests Mama Natung , officials said here. ۔
The SBSAP will be developed through multi-stakeholder consultation and a participatory approach.
The state cabinet on November 17 last year adopted the ‘Pakke Tiger Reserve 2047 Declaration on Climate Change Flexible and Responsible Arunachal Pradesh’, which aims to promote ‘Climate Flexible Development’ in the state.The ‘Pakke Declaration’ focuses on five broad themes or five-pronged approach to multi-sectoral development for climate resilient development based on the Panch Dharas.
The meeting was attended by PCCF and Principal Secretary RK Singh, WWF India CEO Ravi Singh, State Biodiversity Board Chairman Tayek Goi, Board Member Secretary Koj Rinya and WWF India. Senior executives attended.
