Arunachal: Chief Sectary reviews Broadband Mission progress

A meeting of the State Broadband Committee (SBC) chaired by Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar on Wednesday decided to launch last mile digital connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh on mission mode.
The Chief Secretary reviewed the implementation of National Broadband Mission in the state. He further requested TSPs in the state to upgrade their minimum 3G network services to 4G services to experience better telecom and broadband services. He said that matters in this regard would be taken up with the Center.
The Chief Secretary informed the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) that the use of power poles on roads has already been allowed for small cell and aerial OFC in the state.
To strengthen connectivity at international borders, he asked DOT representatives to find viable ways to provide communication in international border areas in northern Arunachal Pradesh under the DOT’s Universal Service Obligation Fund.
According to the latest report, rural broadband connectivity is 60%, with 2,211 exposed villages.
