Arunachal: Boy, 16, buried alive in landslide on way to boxing trial.
A 16-year-old man who was going to take part in a boxing selection trial was buried alive in a landslide in Sood village near here on Sunday morning due to heavy rains.
The deceased was reportedly identified as Rage Haley, a resident of Keyak village in western Siang district.
Haley was riding a motorbike with a friend from Dokum Colony to Rajiv Gandhi University in Rono Hills to take part in a boxing selection trial when he was hit by a landslide.
Haley was buried alive on the spot, his friend Tai Abu miraculously escaped with minor injuries.
Police later recovered the young man’s body with the help of locals.
“A case has been registered under the required section and the body will be handed over to the next of kin after legal proceedings,” officials said.
Chief Minister Pima Khandu has expressed grief over the death of the youth.
