Arunachal: Alliance Air's Dornier aircraft made its first landing at the ziro airstrip.

Ziro: In another major boost to Arunachal Pradesh’s aviation sector, a Dornier 228 aircraft of Alliance Air made its first commercial landing at the Advanced Landing Ground in Lower Subansiri here on Sunday.

The Made in India aircraft carrying three passengers landed at Zero Airport at 12.15 pm. The aircraft had earlier taken off from Lilabari in Assam and took 30 minutes to cover an aerial distance of about 100 km.
Deputy Commissioner of Lower Subansari Baman Neme, Superintendent of Police Sachin Singhal and other officials accorded a warm traditional welcome to the passengers.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu who practically gave the green flag for the flight earlier in the day thanked the central government for this historic development.
The central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given full attention to the development of North Eastern states, especially in the connectivity sector. The Northeast has seen unprecedented growth in all areas of connectivity – road, rail, air and digital connectivity – in the last 8 years of the Modi government,” Khandu said.
The Chief Minister said that the once neglected and backward region is now at par with other developed states of the country.

He said that in last 8 years Arunachal Pradesh could develop 9 modern airworthy landing grounds which were lying dilapidated and unused.
“While Pasighat and Tezhu already have fixed-wing commercial air connectivity, today we have added Zero. Of the remaining six ALGs, three are viable for fixed-wing flight landings and three.

Tawang, Aalo and Walaung. – will be used as a heliport,” Khandu said.

He said that once the airport at Holongi is inaugurated and made operational, inter-state as well as inter-state air connectivity will get a big boost.Stating that the Holongi Airport is complete and ready for operation, the Chief Minister said that Arunachal Pradesh is waiting for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to come and dedicate it to the people.

He also thanked Alliance Air for taking the lead in expanding its flight services to the state and region.

The flight service to Zero is being operated by Alliance Air under the Union Government’s UDAN scheme.
