Arunachal: 5 killed, 2 missing due to flood, landslides. Five people were killed in landslides and floods while two others were reported missing as rains continued in Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday.
A 36-year-old woman, identified as Sangio Yapa, was buried alive. While three others, including a two-year-old child, were buried at their home in Tucker Colony, Naharlagun.
Four people were swept away by flash floods in Huto village in Papum Pare district, while five others were rescued by locals.
The NDRF and SDRF, which launched search and rescue operations, later recovered a body and rescued one person.
All injured survivors have been handed over to the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences for further treatment.
A landslide in Kokila village under Balijan Circle in the district killed 10 people, officials added.
One woman died on the spot while the others miraculously managed to escape.
A worker at a water treatment plant in Holongi was also buried alive in a landslide on Tuesday.
In the West Siang District, a worker at a construction site under the Trans-Arunachal Highway was buried alive in a landslide near the village of Darla.
The deceased has been identified as Talu Kalandi, a resident of Lalok in Lakhimpur district of Assam.
The Siang District Disaster Management Authority rescued six workers trapped in the floodwaters whose camps were swept away by the flooding of the Samang River at 1448 Det BCC, Bowling.
Heavy rains have also affected road links and other infrastructure in many districts.
Currently, Chimpu-Hollongi Road in Papum Pare, Pangin-Boleng and Boleng-Rumgong Road in Siang. West Siang, Balemu-Bomdila Road in West Kameng and Margherita-Changlang road in Changlang District and several in ICR and other districts. There are link roads are closed due to landslides.
