Assam: In a successful operation by the Red Shield Division of the Indian Army under the auspices of the Spear Corps, a freedom fighter of ULFA-Independent (ULFA-I) was arrested from Assam’s Tinsukia district on March 18.
The ULFA (I) freedom fighter was arrested from Bisa village in Lekhapani under Tinsukia district.
The operation was initiated on the basis of specific information regarding the movement of a suspected freedom fighter with weapons in Lekhapani area.
The arrested person has been identified as Subash Chetry, a resident of Debong Bari.
One 7.62 mm pistol and four live rounds were recovered from the cadre.
The freedom fighter later admitted to having links with ULFA (I) after being questioned by Army personnel.
