Guwahati: An Army Colonel dies in a road accident in Meghalaya’s Shillong, police said on Wednesday.
The slain army personnel has been identified as Colonel Ramesh Rathore.
He was allegedly hit by a speeding car.
The army officer was posted in Shillong, Meghalaya.
Colonel Ramesh Singh Rathore, 49, who was posted in 101 area of Upper Shillong, was hit by a pick-up vehicle while he was walking on Butcher Road, police said.
The accident happened to the colonel when he was on his way to his office around 5 pm.
He was immediately shifted to Civil Hospital for treatment.
However, he succumbed to his injuries while being treated at the hospital.
“A sad news. Col. Ramesh Rathore of 12 Armed Regt, posted as Col. AHQ 101 Area Shillong, collided with a speeding Scorpio on his way to office around 5 pm,” a defense statement said. And later died in the hospital.
Meanwhile, the police have registered a case and arrested and seized the erring driver, Kailash Roy.

The slain army officer Colonel Ramesh Rathore belonged to Jaipur in Rajasthan.
The last rites of the deceased colonel will be held on Friday (November 18) at his native place in Ghanao Sadolpur village in Churu district of Jaipur, Rajasthan.
Colonel Ramesh Rathore’s son has recently joined the National Defense Academy (NDA).
