Itanagar: The CBI has filed a chargesheet against 10 accused of APPSC in a local court here in connection with the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission’s Asst Engineer (Civil) exam paper leak.
Sources in the state police department said that the premier investigating agency filed the chargesheet in the District and Sessions Court at Yupia near here on Thursday.
This matter is related to the leak of paper of Assistant Engineer (Civil) Exam 2021 conducted by APSSC.
The CBI had taken over the probe on October 27 this year after the state government recommended a probe by the agency.
The case was initially investigated by the capital police and later transferred to the Special Investigation Cell (SIC) of the state police.
The paper leak incident came to light when one of the exam aspirants, Gyamar Padung, filed a police complaint at the Itanagar police station on August 29, claiming that he suspected that the AE (Civil) exam paper had been leaked.
More than 400 candidates appeared in the exam held on August 26 and 27 this year.
The SIC had arrested 10 people, including APPSC Deputy Secretary-cum-Controller of Examinations Takt Jerang.
APPSC Chairman Nipo Nabam had resigned on October 14 on moral grounds.
The state government had also ordered SIC (Vigilance) to conduct all examinations conducted by APPSC since 2014.
SIC has so far arrested 32 persons in various cases.
The arrests were made after detailed interrogation of the suspects and technical and financial analysis. The SIC investigation in the paper leak case is ongoing and all the facts are being investigated in detail. All legal formalities and professional norms are being maintained during the investigation,” said SICSP Anant Mittal, adding that SIC is committed to ensure justice for the affected candidates of various examinations.
