APPSC exam: Pan Arunachal joint steering committee puts new bid

Itanagar: The Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) today said it is rejecting its demand to nullify the ‘compromised’ examinations of the All Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) examinations.
Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) also submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Pema Khandu today and reiterated its thirteen demands before the government.
PAJSC Vice-Chairman Tadak Nalo said he would be knocking the door of the court after one-and-a-half years regarding his demand to nullify APPSC’s ‘compromised’ exams.
He said that he was going to drop the invalid demand as he felt that it could hamper the fulfillment of other demands.
The PAJSC is now planning to proceed with its other 13 demands which, in its view, have not been met.

“We have sent a representation to the Chief Minister and we have made an appeal. Our demands are lying pending for more than a year. We had asked for their redressal. We also feel that the demands have not been redressed because of the null an void point.

Our demand for null and void is not wrong. We have questioned the examination process through the null and void demand. We have not questioned on other angles. If the papers have been leaked, sold or rewritten, then it means the examination process has been compromised.

We sought the null and void demand because we wanted answers from the state government as to how could they remain unaware about a scam that was running for years,” said Nalo.

Tadak Nalo also said that Union Minister Kiren Rijiju’s silence over the inefficiency of the CBI even after being in the Union Ministry as a cabinet minister is quite stark, as he has allegedly neglected the slow paced investigation by the CBI.

They also questioned Rijiju’s silence as prime accused Takit Jerang also got bail from Supreme Court due to non filling of chargesheet by the CBI.

“Now if somebody keeps quiet then we are surprised, especially when you hold a position where your voice matters. We have always made appeals to Pema Khandu and his government. But Kiren Rijiju was the law minster when the issue started.

He still holds a place in the union cabinet. He being a domicile citizen of the state, and this being such a huge issue, how can he keep quiet? We should have had to say this. This should have come from him naturally.

We are calling CBI inefficent because of the outcome of the probe. The person arrested has got bail. Why? Because there is chargesheet filed. Since it is a central agency, Rijiju has a say as he has a post in the union cabient,” said Talo.

Meanwhile, additional demands in the memorandum to the CM include the construction of a statue honoring Gyamar Padang, the late whistleblower of the APPSC paper-selling scam, at 6 Kilo; immediate revocation of the suspension order against PAJSC Chairman, as well as the detention order under APUAPA; implementation of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Examination (Measures for Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2023, after incorporating inputs from PAJSC; immediate withdrawal of all charges against protesters and compensation for those injured during the public bandh on February 17-18.

Furthermore, PAJSC calls for the establishment of the Gyamar Padang Bravery Award to recognize the indomitable spirit of the man who dared to challenge the corrupt forces, rewards for Padang’s kin as a gesture of compassion and recognition for the sacrifices made by a true son of Arunachal Pradesh.
