Anti-party activities Angkita Dutta expelled for 6 years

New Delhi: Assam Youth Congress president Angkita Dutta was on Saturday suspended from the core membership of the Congress for six years for anti-party activities.

Dutta had accused Indian Youth Congress chief Srinivas B V of suffering mental anguish after she leveled allegations of sexual harassment against former IYC president Keshav Kumar.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized the Congress for the move, saying it was its model of women’s empowerment and its “ladki hoon, lad sakti hoon” (I am a woman). And I can fight) slogan is hollow.

“The Congress President has suspended Dr. Angkita Dutta, President, Assam Pradesh Youth Congress, from the core membership of the party for six years with immediate effect for his anti-party activities,” Tariq Anwar, Member Secretary Disciplinary Action Committee Congress said in an order.
Attacking the Congress, BJP’s IT cell chief Amit Malviya tweeted: “This is Congress’ model of women empowerment!”

“Fix the woman who accused her of harassment instead of providing a platform to air her grievances. The way Angkita Dutta has been kicked out of the Congress is uninspiring for women.”

Malviya also said, “Ladki hoon, lad sakti hoon is a hollow slogan.”
The Congress had raised this slogan during the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections last year.
Dutta tweeted: “When ex-IYC president Keshav Kumar was sexually harassed and came out because of #MeToo. He was forced to be removed. Mentally harassed by BV Srinivas for 6 months now. And despite the discrimination, I have been asked to remain silent and no inquiry has been initiated.
“Honestly, I know this may lead to the end of my political career. If this is the price I have to pay, then so be it. About me meeting some BJP leader, home and office. Welcome to check the CTV footage where you will probably see me reading the trolls my colleagues are spreading,” he tweeted on Friday.

Dutta was issued a show-cause notice by the Assam Congress, asking him to explain why action should not be taken against him for his alleged anti-party activities.
