Manipur: Days before BJP Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Manipur, fresh violence erupted in several parts of the state when Kuki militants allegedly armed with sophisticated weapons set fire to several houses in Serou and Sugunu areas.
According to reports, clashes between state forces and Kuki militants are still ongoing in Serou area, in which three civilians are reported to have been injured.
Burning of houses in the foothills near Sekmai (about 10 km north of Imphal) area was also reported.
Meanwhile, an angry mob stormed the house of BJP MLA Raghumani.
According to reports, Meitei houses in Serou, Sugnu, Tangjeng, Terakhongsangbi, Sekmai were allegedly torched by Kuki militants last night.
In the ensuing gunfight, 3 Manipur commandos were killed when they were engaged in an exchange of fire with Kuki militants in Serou.
Deaths and casualties have also been reported in other villages near Daman.
